Distribution﹕

產 地 :

Quangdong, Quangxi, Fujian, Sichuan, Jiangxi provinces of China.

主產於廣東、廣西、福建、四川、江西等地。

Properties (characteristics)

性 味 ﹕

acrid sweet and warm

辛 ﹐ 甘 ﹐ 溫 。

歸 經 ﹕

kidney and liver channels

腎 ﹐ 肝 。

Actions & Indications:

主 治 ﹕

  1. Used as tonic for kidneys, improving yang, especially for shenyangxu (kidney yang deficiency) that causes impotence, infertility, premature ejaculation, spermatorrhea, frequent urination, incontinence, irregular menses, cold and painful lower abdomen﹐ weak and achy loin and knees,  and chronic inflammation of nerves (especially the sciatica nerves).

  2. Used for muscular atrophy, painful rheumatoid arthritis, ridding of damp cold.

 

  1. 用於腎虛陽痿,遺精﹐ 早泄,多 尿 ﹐大 小 便 失 禁 ﹐ 月 經 不 調 ﹐ 下 腹 冷 痛 。 2.  腰膝痿軟疼 痛 ﹐ 坐 骨 神 經 痛 等症。

  2. 用於肌 肉 萎 縮 ﹐ 下肢寒濕痺痛等症。

Dosage:

用 量 ﹕

4 ~ 10 grams

4 ~ 10 克 。

Samples of Applications:

應 用 舉 例 ﹕

  1. For impotence, spermatorrhea: ba ji tian, rou cong rong,  tu si zi.

  2. For weak and achy loin and knees: ba ji tian, xu duan, du zhong.

  3. For painful rheumatoid arthritis: ba ji tian, fu zi, gou jii.

 

  1. 巴戟天溫而不燥, 補而不滯,能補腎陽、強筋骨。用於陽痿遺泄,常與肉 蓯蓉菟 絲子等同用;

  2. 治療腰膝痿軟,常 與續 斷杜 仲等 藥配伍應用。

  3. 巴戟天能助腎陽、 散寒濕,治痺痛,常與附 子狗 脊等同 用 。

Chemical ingredients﹕

化 學 成 份 :

morindin, vitamin C,asperuloside tetraacetate, resin, monotrpein, methyl isoalizarin, methylisoalizarin 1-methylether, rubiadian, rubiadin-1-methyl-ether, 2-methylanthraquinone, 2-hydroxy-3- (hydroxymethyl)-anthraquinone, 1-hydroxy, antraquinone, anthraquinone, 1,6-dihydroxy-2-methoxy-anthraquinone, 1-hydroxy-2-methoxyanthraquinone; elements: lead, iron, magenese, zinc, potassium, calcium, magnesium, nickel , barium, sodium, phosphorus, aluminium, etc. Organic acid: 24-ethycholesterol, non-adecane, glucose,  and mannose.

Modern Research:

ba ji tian extract can be used to counter-act the adverse effect of hydrocortisone on the atrophy of thymus gland, and adrenal cortex, and the increase level of SGPT (ALT).

Cautions﹕

禁 忌 :

Contra-indication for damp heat or heat caused by yin deficiency. Use caution in patients with difficulty in urination but usually shenyangxu patients have tendency to develop enlargement of prostate.

3. Some old literatures mentioned not to use it with dan shen (Radix salivae miltiorrhizae).

濕 熱 或  陰 虛  有 熱  者 忌 用 。 小 便 困 難 者 小 心 應 用 。但  腎 陽 虛 者 常 常 引 起 前 列 腺 增 大﹐以 至 小 便 困 難  。

有說巴戟天不可與丹參同用 。
