治風熱感冒，咽喉腫痛:銀翹散；牛蒡子、連翹、銀花、荊芥、桔梗等

風熱壅盛，咽喉腫痛，熱毒較甚者:
牛蒡湯；牛蒡子、大黃、薄荷、防風等

風熱咳嗽，痰多不暢:
牛蒡子、荊芥、桔梗、前胡、甘草。

麻疹不透。
麻疹不透或透而復隱:
透疹湯:
牛蒡子、薄荷、荊芥、蟬蛻、紫草等。

癰腫瘡毒，腮腺炎
(痄腮) 喉痺，兼有便秘者:
牛蒡子、大黃、芒硝、枝子、連翹、薄荷等。

肝郁化火，胃熱壅絡之乳癰症:

普濟消毒飲:李東垣《醫方集解》，黃芩、黃蓮各15克，
牛蒡子、連翹、薄荷、白殭蠶、玄參、板藍根、桔梗各10克，陳皮、馬勃、升麻、柴胡、甘草各6克。水煎服。[加減法]
（a）.如果表邪明顯，裡熱較輕，黃芩用量減為6
克，川連減為6 克，加入荊芥10
克，防風9克。
（b).如果表邪已解，裡熱仍甚，可去升麻、柴胡。
(c).如果兼有大便秘結，可加大黃10
克。

據《中醫大百科全書》﹕時行感冒的治療以解表疏邪為原則，或兼以清熱解毒，滌暑袪濕，具體用藥應隨證而異，證型如下：
1.風寒
束表，邪鬱衛分。證見發熱，惡寒較重，無汗，頭痛，身痛，流清涕，多噴嚏，稍有咳嗽，無痰，苔薄白，脈浮緊。治宜辛溫解表，常用荊防敗毒散加減。
2.風熱犯肺，邪在衛分。證見發熱較重，稍有惡寒，有汗不多，頭痛，咳嗽，痰少而黏稠，或咽喉腫痛，口乾欲飲，舌紅，苔薄黃，脈浮數。治宜辛涼解表，常用銀翹散加減。
3.暑濕在表。證見發熱，惡寒，無汗或少汗，頭痛，四肢困倦或疼痛，心煩口渴，胸悶脘痞，泛噁，小便黃或大便泄瀉，舌苔薄黃膩，脈濡數。治宜清暑化濕解表，常用新加香薷飲加減。
