Pharmaceutical name:

Indigo Naturalis

Latin botanical name:

Dried pigment of the leaves of the following plants:

  1.   Baphieacanthuscusia(NEES)BREM (馬 藍) ,

  2.   Indigofera tinctoria LINN.(木 藍 ) ,

  3.   Isatis tinctoria LINN. (菘 藍) ﹐

  4.   Isatis indigotica FORT.( 草 大 青) ,

  5.   Polygonum tinctorium LOUR.(蓼 藍)

(以上各植物 葉 中 之 乾 燥 色 素 。

Common Name:

分佈﹕

 

 

  1.  Baphieacanthuscusia(Nees)Brem.:  southern China, central China

  2.  Indigofera tinctoria Linn. :  southern China, central China

  3.  Isatis tinctoria Linn.:  Inner Mongolia, northern China, central China

  4.  Isatis indigotica Fort:  along Yangtze River valley

  5.  Polygonum tinctorium Lour.:  central China

 

  1. 馬 藍﹕ 分 布 華 南 ﹐ 華 中 。

  2. 木 藍 分 布 華 南 ﹐ 華 中 。

  3. 菘 藍 分 布 內 蒙 古 ﹐ 華 北 ﹐ 華 中 。

  4. 草 大 青 分 布 長 江 流 域 。

  5. 蓼 藍 分 布 華 北 各 地 。

Properties (characteristics):性味:

cold, salty

性寒,味咸。

Channels (meridians) entered:

歸經:

liver, lung, stomach

肝﹐肺﹐胃

Actions & Indications:

High fever in infectious sickness, eczema, chronic myelogenous leukemia, children epilepsy,

vomiting blood, nose bleeding, bleeding from cuts,

gum inflammation, mouth inflammation, sore throat, boils

in the mouth or tongue, tonsillitis, inflammation of the

roots of teeth, boils, insect or snake bites, cough with heat

in the lungs.

溫 病 熱 盛 , 斑 疹 ,白血病﹐小 兒 驚 癇 ,

吐 血 , 咯 血 , 吐血鼻血, 金瘡出血,

丹毒,口 腔 炎,牙 齦炎,喉 頭 炎,口 舌 生 瘡﹐

 熱 毒﹐扁 桃 腺 炎 , 齒 齦 炎 ,

 癰 腫 , 惡 瘡 , 蛇 蟲 咬 傷肺熱咳嗽

 

Medical function:

藥理作用﹕

inhibits

  1. anthrax,

  2. Klebsiella pneumoniae,  

  3. Shigella dysenteriae,

  4. Staphylococcus aureus,

  5. anti inflammatory

  6. improves symptoms of CML: lowers white cell count, improve bone marrow or obvious improvement.

可抑制:

  1. 炭疽桿菌,

  2. 肺炎桿菌,

  3. 賀志氏痢疾桿菌

  4. 葡萄球菌

  5. 具有消炎

  6. 能改善慢性粒细胞白血病症狀,

           使白细胞下降,骨髓象正常或明顯進步

 

 

 

Samples of formulae:

For treating boils: grind ma chi xian and qing dai together.

Apply externally.

治諸熱瘡毒, 用馬齒莧加青黛同搗敷之.

Chemical ingredients:

化學成份﹕

Main ingredient: indigo, indigotin;

Secondary ingredient: indirubin

主含靛蓝(indigo,indigotin),另含靛玉红(indirubin)

Although the chemical formulae of indirubin and indigotin are the same but the structures are different, and indigotin does not possess the anti cancer characteristics. The structure of indirubin deserves further study.

Dosage:

用量:

raw herb qing dai: 10 g per dose (added to other formulae)

indirubin (effective ingredient for CML): per dosage is 50 mg

青黛﹕每服10克。

靛玉红: 每次50毫克

Cautions:

禁忌:

Not to use in cases of abnormal liver function.

Indirubin can be toxic to the liver.

Start from small amount and monitor liver function regularly.

Use care in cases without yinxu (yin deficient) condition with real heat.

Most of the herb qing dai sold in the herb stores in Taiwan area aremainly pigments and do not contain any effective ingredient. [1]

靛玉红可能對肝臟有毒肝功能異常者禁用。

用藥期間檢視肝功能。

非有實火者,不可輕投。
